A funding intelligence platform that empowers organizations to mobilize resources more effectively.
In 2023, while working in Peru as a volunteer consultant in project management for international cooperation and development projects at SUCO, I had the opportunity to collaborate closely with several Peruvian civil society organizations working on sustainable development and gender equality. Through this experience, I became increasingly aware of how fragmented, bureaucratic and resource-intensive funding processes can be, from identifying relevant opportunities and assessing eligibility to preparing proposals and meeting donor requirements.
Conversations with leaders and practitioners from these organizations reinforced a recurring observation: a significant amount of time and organizational capacity is devoted to navigating funding processes, often at the expense of more strategic work related to programs, institutional development and impact.
This experience led me to start developing Lima, named after the city where the idea emerged. Lima is conceived as a funding intelligence and resource mobilization platform for organizations working in international cooperation, sustainable development and social impact. Its initial purpose is to strengthen organizations’ resource mobilization capacity by helping them identify relevant funding opportunities, understand complex requirements, assess eligibility and fit, make better Go/No-Go decisions, and develop stronger initiatives and funding proposals.
Over time, the ambition is for Lima to go beyond funding discovery and proposal development by creating a more integrated information infrastructure connecting organizations, initiatives, capabilities, funders and resources throughout the funding lifecycle. The broader objective is to reduce unnecessary administrative and information barriers, strengthen the role of local organizations, and contribute to a funding ecosystem in which resources can be mobilized and allocated more effectively toward meaningful and lasting impact.
I began developing Lima alongside my professional activities, initially as an exploratory project grounded in problems I had observed firsthand. It is now evolving toward a potential entrepreneurial venture, with the product, business model and long-term vision being progressively tested and refined.
